During WWII, the bomb that the US dropped on Nagasaki was not a Hydrogen bomb. It was actually a Plutonium bomb that needed still had yet to be tested.  Also, while Nagasaki had a plethora of casualties, it could have been worse. The pilot flying the B-29 had missed the original drop zone and instead dropped the “Fat Man” too late, resulting in the warhead detonating on a mountain side...
